Homeless Outreach Prayer Requests 06.28.13

This past Friday night our Homeless Outreach team reached more streets than ever and saw a tremendous police presence on the street. Please be praying for our officers and their families during this busy time of year.

Below are the prayer requests of the people our team connected with. Each week they meet people where they are to provide food, water and prayer. Please join us in praying for the hurting and the hopeful in our city.

Isaiah 58: 6-9 (NIRV)

6 “Here is the way I want you to fast. “Set free those who are held by chains without any reason. Untie the ropes that hold people as slaves. Set free those who are crushed. Break every evil chain.

7 Share your food with hungry people. Provide homeless people with a place to stay. Give naked people clothes to wear. Provide for the needs of your own family.

8 Then the light of my blessing will shine on you like the rising sun. I will heal you quickly. I will march out ahead of you. And my glory will follow behind you and guard you. That is because I always do what is right.

9 You will call out to me for help. And I will answer you. You will cry out. And I will say, ‘Here I am.’

– Please pray for Justin and his girlfriend Anastasia who is pregnant. She believes she may have miscarried and is bleeding heavily. We prayed with them for the safety of their baby, the bond between them to strengthen with honor and kindness and we gave them information on the nearest free clinic. Please pray for them and their child and that we will be able to see them again.

– JoVaan and Samantha had made their bed behind a wall of new stands and were thankful we spotted them and to receive food, water and socks. Samantha asked us to pray for safety and JoVaan was eager to get a safe nights sleep.

– Please pray for Chief who has been coming up to us for several weeks asking questions about God, but now approaches us only to vent and express his anger with God. Please pray that his heart would open and that he feels God’s love and ability to heal hurts.

– Steve is in a wheel chair and asked that we pray for healing and that the pain in his legs would go away. He had us pray that he would come to be saved by the Lord and for a close relationship with Him.

– Juliana was such a blessing to talk to and pray with. She was recently attcked and nearly raped, but fought off her attacker with pepper spray. She lost most of her voice in doing so, but even in this she asked us to thank God that she is safe and wanted prayer for protection through the week. She has found housing beginning next Monday and prays for safety until then.

– Leonard and Jamie were waiting outside a restaurant for the security guard to leave so they could dumpster dive. Leonard was thankful for the socks we gave him and Jamie asked us to pray for “everything.” He softened when we prayed for peace and comfort and that he would come to know the goodness of God’s will for his life.

– Jake wears a crown and writes poetry. He asked us to pray for him and that he is thankful that he made the decision to follow Christ.

– Please pray for Omar who was thankful to see smiling faces and grateful for the snacks.

– Mr. James was missing a row of teeth and was very, very skinny, but he thanked God for the food we gave him and the food he had received from people earlier. He asked that we keep his mother in our prayers, too.

– Mike was thankful for the blanket we gave him and appreciated us being out. It’s the second time he’s seen us (this is the second week since adding new streets!) God, please help us to continue gaining trust and taking back ground in your name and reaching people for you!

– Rome, who we see every week, skate boarded over to us to say he loves seeing us on the boulevard each week and wants to come to church and find out what we’re all about! Please pray that we see him soon!

– “Dirty J” came to the table asking us to pray that he stays on God’s path for his life.

– Our long time friend Giovanni was grateful that he made it through another week living on the Boulevard and asked that we pray he has a good and safe week ahead.

– Alan asked us to pray for his sister Caylin who is struggling with a drug addiction. He is praying that she will move to Hollywood so he can keep an eye on her and help her to receive the care she needs.

– Charlie came to us looking for a pair of pants, but we didn’t have his size. Please pray that he finds something soon or that we receive more donations and can help meet the need this week and that he sees the will of God in his life.

– Shaun asked us to pray that he is able to continue focusing on the joy of the Lord in his heart while he is in the midst of struggle. He asked that we pray for continued safety and a way off the street.

– We love Spider – Man! He came by the table for a bit of candy and to hi five us!

– Jesus spoke with us in Spanish and was thankful for the food we gave him.

– Tony, from Virginia, was grateful for the food and water we gave him and asked that we pray for his general well being.

– Please help us pray for Maurice who asked for a closer relationship with the Lord and that he may come to know God more intimately.

– Marcus is struggling with his finances right now and asked that we pray for him to be able to get money out of his bank without an overwhelming amount of fees.

– Ashley asked us to pray for “everything” and that she remains safe on the streets.

– Dustiny was as excited as ever to see us on the boulevard! She is always smiling when we see her and so grateful for the food, socks and prayer. Please keep her in your prayers for health and a safe way off the street.

Thank you for praying with us Oasis family!
