What an honor it is to serve our city in such a radical way! The Homeless Outreach Team continued spreading out across Hollywood to meet the needs of those living on the street and praying with those looking to connect with Christ. It was an incredibly active week with many prayers said and a strong police presence. Please continue to pray for our officers and thank them when you can.
Below are the prayer requests of the people they met who would like continued prayer throughout the week. Please join us in lifting them up and loving Los Angeles with prayer.
Acts 20:35 New International Version (NIV)
35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
— Ron, Tonya and “Ten” were all sitting together and surprised to have visitors, people willing to talk to them and offer help. We gave them food, water, hygiene items and prayed with them. Tonya was so grateful for shelter information and feminine products. Ron was so grateful that we were out helping and “Ten” was so genuinely moved. They all thanked us and are hoping to join us for Celebrate Recovery on Thursday nights.
— Our old friend Robert Blake, who is often yelling and laughing, came by to get food and clothing. We’re so thankful for how God is working in him and how we’ve gotten to witness breakthroughs each week.
— George has been visiting us on the street since we first started serving the streets of Hollywood nearly two years ago. We’ve seen so many of his good and bad moments, but he is currently so ill and down trodden. He has lost a lot of family and friends recently and his own health continues to decline. God, please send your angels to watch over him and to awaken Him to your love, purpose and calling on his life. Let him know your goodness and let him really hear your promises when we speak to him. Love him, God and help us to love him better.
— Chief has been coming by the table for weeks. Some times he talks to us, sometimes he ignores us and sometimes he yells at us! He always takes food and we continue to pray that his inquisitive spirit lends way to Your will and Spirit.
— Justin and Anastasia who we met last week found us again to ask for more prayer. They are desperate to get off the street and were so grateful for the faithfulness of our team, the food and clothes we gave them and for taking time to pray with them. Thank you God for their hearts being yielded to you.
— We prayed for a man who was cooking heroine on the street as we were serving others. We asked God to intervene and to help him recognize his strength and value in Christ. Please continue to pray that his chains are broken and that God announces His will loudly and passionately in that man’s life.
— As we finished praying for the man above, two others came by to set up their camp for the night. God, please watch over them and strengthen them. Keep them warm and watch over their hearts so they do not fall victim to what they see around them.
— We were so thankful to see Mike again! He is so kind, warm and welcoming. He never wants resources for himself, but accepted a bag of items for others he comes across. Please pray for his continued protection and gentle spirit.
— There’s a young man who always comes to our table with a skateboard and has allowed us to pray with him in the past, but not this time. He was grateful for the socks and water. Please keep lifting him up and that we might have the chance to connect with him more in the future.
— Another man named Mike was trying to raise $50 so he could “stay out of trouble.” Lord, please bless him with safety and guidance in his decisions. Let them honor you and set him upon your path for his life.
— “Pharoah” asked us to pray thanks that he is alove and is grateful to his Creator.
— Theron is new to Los Angeles and without a job or place to stay. Please pray that he finds a job soon and that its provision aids him in finding housing.
— Our dear friend Pat asked us to pray for his wife’s sister who was diagnosed with intestinal cancer.
— Charlie, who was waiting for a friend to come pick him up, asked what we were doing and was grateful for the bag of food and hygiene items. Please pray that he has a resolve in his heart to seek Jesus and to continue asking about His character.
— Please pray for James who reacted violently to the name of Jesus. God, we ask that he is invaded by your love and that your Spirit falls on him in a way that breaks any strongholds he is fighting against.
— Alan and Jamaica thanked us for what we are doing!
— Pray for Paul who asked us a bunch of questions about our church and outreach. God, we ask that he continues to seek You and to lead our words in a way that continues to open his heart to You.
— Sephora and Etta came by the table to grab chips and thanked us for being a presence on the street.
— Daniel asked us to pray for him to receive more work.
— Neil is so grateful that we have MRE’s (Military Meals that are pre packaged). Please pray that he stays full of both food and the Spirit.
— Mario was grateful for socks and clothes. He is praying that his retirement money comes in so that he can pay off outstanding debts.
— Thank you God for our young friend Johnny. He used to come by the table to steal from us and now he comes to talk and understands that what we have is for him to receive, not to steal!
— “Don King”, one of the costumed folks on the boulevard thanked us for what we do and came just to support us and give love. We receive that!
— Cora was grateful for the snack we gave her!
— Armando came by to grab crackers before he jumped on the bus and didn’t have time for prayer, but thanked us for loving him.
— Our friend Giovanni came by to ask for prayer that he and his friend Skyler do well filming their routine this week.
— AJ asked us to pray that the violence on Hollywood Boulevard would stop and that no one else loses their life to this street.
— Nancy came by and was thankful that we had clothes for her. She and her daughter have recently been evicted from their home. Please pray that they are able to find housing, safety and comfort.
— Debbie and Christopher were so thankful for socks!
— “Wise” and “Abandon” were so excited to receive a blanket from us. Thank you God for small gifts and that You keep them warm.
— Jerry recently had his ID stolen and lost his shelter. He thanked us for being so committed to the homeless living in Hollywood and said we’re on the right track! We prayed for him and gave him resources and he thanked us abundantly.
— We met an older woman who was crying out for her two lost cats, Domino and Zippy Code. Please pray for her comfort and that she finds warmth in God.
— We met a wonderful woman named Beverly outside of our own church when we returned from the street. She was so warm and cheerful. We prayed with her to find housing and to no longer live on the streets. God, be with her and love her through this difficult time.
Thank you for praying with us, for the team and the people they reach. You are such an incredible part of what Jesus is doing on the streets of Hollywood!
