Homeless Outreach Prayer Requests 07.12.13

This past Friday night our Homeless Outreach Team served the hurting and listened to the hopeful on Hollywood Boulevard. It is a tremendous blessing to pray for those they met and share in their stories. Please join us in prayer – not only for those listed below, but for the Boulevard itself, the police officers who protect it and for the many that this street attracts every day.

Please also be praying for the team this week as they reach out to a community greatly affected by the Trayvon Martin case. May they be safe on the street and be a light to the many who are looking to God for answers.

Deuteronomy 10:18, 19 AMP
He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the stranger or temporary resident and gives him food and clothing. Therefore love the stranger and sojourner, for you were strangers and sojourners in the land of Egypt.

Thank you Jesus for starting our Outreach night with a family in front of our own church! LaTanya and her 6 children are moving into their new home this week after nearly a year on the street and in transitional housing. They are so grateful to Oasis for being a positive light in their lives, to our food pantry for helping them stay fed and to the team of people who continuously shows them love when they come to worship experiences on Sunday!
We did not see Rodney this week. It’s the first time in nearly two years that he didn’t greet us at the table with a big smile as soon as we arrived. Please  pray for his protection and safety.

Thank you God for the parking authority officers who showed grace and mercy on us when we didn’t realize we had parked in a tow away zone! They were grateful for the service we were doing and allowed us to move without a ticket. Thank you for favor, Jesus!

Please pray for Neal who stoped by the table and received bags of food, but still won’t allow us to pray for him on the street. God, invade and comfort his heart.

We were thankful to meet Jasmine and Whitney, two young women who we were able to bless with Treasures bags. Please pray for both of them to keep joy and happiness in their hearts and that they recognize the value and purpose on their lives.

Shawn asked us to pray for the world and for him to find God.

Please pray for Dan who does not want to question God for any of his sufferings. Two of his friends recently passed away and he is hurting deeply. Please pray that he finds his way to church and God may open doors for him.

Jarred, who just got a bible and is starting a new life with Jesus, asked for prayer for strong protection over him so the enemy won’t dare attack him. May God to protect him and continue to reveal His will.

Please pray for Richard, a navy veteran. He said the Lord’s Prayer with us and asked us to pray for his safety and health.

LaSugar, a young lady in a short dress, received a scarf and thanked us for the Treasures bag we had given her in the past. Please pray for her safety and that she would continue to learn her value in Christ.

Cora from Wisconsin is becoming a regular visitor to the table and was the first one to greet us! She took a blanket and pillow. She had us pray for strength and blessings.

Neil accepted a bag of food for him and someone else. and just asked that we keep him in our prayers.

Martha and Lisetteasked that we pray for them to find a place to live and have a job.

Ella was grateful for the scarfs and bags we gave her and asks that we pray for her kidneys.

Please pray for Jeremiah who is living in an apartment with his mom after being forced out with 20 other people from his building. He also asked for prayer for purity and that he finds a partner he is equally yoked with.

Edith asked us to pray for her thought life. She has been having problems with it lately and it is a constant battle.

Howard wanted prayer for no more bloodshed on the streets. He was there when the young woman was stabbed a few weeks ago. Also that we pray for his music – that it continues to inspire others.
Joey asked us to pray that his brother finds housing.

Max  received food and asked that we pray for her boyfriend to get out of jail.

Jake asked that we pray for his health, sleep, and finances.

TJ was excited for the food and backpack we gave her and had us pray that she and her husband are reunited.

James was thankful for the food we gave him and asked that we pray for his mental health.

Nathan, a former dancer was grateful for the food we gave him. He gave us a high kick!

Mike, who has been living in the same doorway on the same street for over a year thanked us for being a presence on the street and for reaching out to people who are usually over looked. He took a few items for himself and said he’d give the rest to others in need.

Thank you for praying with us Oasis!

Homeless Outreach Prayer Requests 07.05.13

What an honor it is to serve our city in such a radical way! The Homeless Outreach Team continued spreading out across Hollywood to meet the needs of those living on the street and praying with those looking to connect with Christ. It was an incredibly active week with many prayers said and a strong police presence. Please continue to pray for our officers and thank them when you can.

Below are the prayer requests of the people they met who would like continued prayer throughout the week. Please join us in lifting them up and loving Los Angeles with prayer.

Acts 20:35 New International Version (NIV)
35 In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

— Ron, Tonya and “Ten” were all sitting together and surprised to have visitors, people willing to talk to them and offer help. We gave them food, water, hygiene items and prayed with them. Tonya was so grateful for shelter information and feminine products. Ron was so grateful that we were out helping and “Ten” was so genuinely moved. They all thanked us and are hoping to join us for Celebrate Recovery on Thursday nights.

— Our old friend Robert Blake, who is often yelling and laughing, came by to get food and clothing. We’re so thankful for how God is working in him and how we’ve gotten to witness breakthroughs each week.

— George has been visiting us on the street since we first started serving the streets of Hollywood nearly two years ago. We’ve seen so many of his good and bad moments, but he is currently so ill and down trodden. He has lost a lot of family and friends recently and his own health continues to decline. God, please send your angels to watch over him and to awaken Him to your love, purpose and calling on his life. Let him know your goodness and let him really hear your promises when we speak to him. Love him, God and help us to love him better.

— Chief has been coming by the table for weeks. Some times he talks to us, sometimes he ignores us and sometimes he yells at us! He always takes food and we continue to pray that his inquisitive spirit lends way to Your will and Spirit.

— Justin and Anastasia who we met last week found us again to ask for more prayer. They are desperate to get off the street and were so grateful for the faithfulness of our team, the food and clothes we gave them and for taking time to pray with them. Thank you God for their hearts being yielded to you.

— We prayed for a man who was cooking heroine on the street as we were serving others. We asked God to intervene and to help him recognize his strength and value in Christ. Please continue to pray that his chains are broken and that God announces His will loudly and passionately in that man’s life.

— As we finished praying for the man above, two others came by to set up their camp for the night. God, please watch over them and strengthen them. Keep them warm and watch over their hearts so they do not fall victim to what they see around them.

— We were so thankful to see Mike again! He is so kind, warm and welcoming. He never wants resources for himself, but accepted a bag of items for others he comes across. Please pray for his continued protection and gentle spirit.

— There’s a young man who always comes to our table with a skateboard and has allowed us to pray with him in the past, but not this time. He was grateful for the socks and water. Please keep lifting him up and that we might have the chance to connect with him more in the future.

— Another man named Mike was trying to raise $50 so he could “stay out of trouble.” Lord, please bless him with safety and guidance in his decisions. Let them honor you and set him upon your path for his life.

— “Pharoah” asked us to pray thanks that he is alove and is grateful to his Creator.

— Theron is new to Los Angeles and without a job or place to stay. Please pray that he finds a job soon and that its provision aids him in finding housing.

— Our dear friend Pat asked us to pray for his wife’s sister who was diagnosed with intestinal cancer.

— Charlie, who was waiting for a friend to come pick him up, asked what we were doing and was grateful for the bag of food and hygiene items. Please pray that he has a resolve in his heart to seek Jesus and to continue asking about His character.

— Please pray for James who reacted violently to the name of Jesus. God, we ask that he is invaded by your love and that your Spirit falls on him in a way that breaks any strongholds he is fighting against.

— Alan and Jamaica thanked us for what we are doing!

— Pray for Paul who asked us a bunch of questions about our church and outreach. God, we ask that he continues to seek You and to lead our words in a way that continues to open his heart to You.

— Sephora and Etta came by the table to grab chips and thanked us for being a presence on the street.

— Daniel asked us to pray for him to receive more work.

— Neil is so grateful that we have MRE’s (Military Meals that are pre packaged). Please pray that he stays full of both food and the Spirit.

— Mario was grateful for socks and clothes. He is praying that his retirement money comes in so that he can pay off outstanding debts.

— Thank you God for our young friend Johnny. He used to come by the table to steal from us and now he comes to talk and understands that what we have is for him to receive, not to steal!

— “Don King”, one of the costumed folks on the boulevard thanked us for what we do and came just to support us and give love. We receive that!

— Cora was grateful for the snack we gave her!

— Armando came by to grab crackers before he jumped on the bus and didn’t have time for prayer, but thanked us for loving him.

— Our friend Giovanni came by to ask for prayer that he and his friend Skyler do well filming their routine this week.

— AJ asked us to pray that the violence on Hollywood Boulevard would stop and that no one else loses their life to this street.

— Nancy came by and was thankful that we had clothes for her. She and her daughter have recently been evicted from their home. Please pray that they are able to find housing, safety and comfort.

— Debbie and Christopher were so thankful for socks!

— “Wise” and “Abandon” were so excited to receive a blanket from us. Thank you God for small gifts and that You keep them warm.

— Jerry recently had his ID stolen and lost his shelter. He thanked us for being so committed to the homeless living in Hollywood and said we’re on the right track! We prayed for him and gave him resources and he thanked us abundantly.

— We met an older woman who was crying out for her two lost cats, Domino and Zippy Code. Please pray for her comfort and that she finds warmth in God.

— We met a wonderful woman named Beverly outside of our own church when we returned from the street. She was so warm and cheerful. We prayed with her to find housing and to no longer live on the streets. God, be with her and love her through this difficult time.

Thank you for praying with us, for the team and the people they reach. You are such an incredible part of what Jesus is doing on the streets of Hollywood!

Homeless Outreach Prayer Requests 06.28.13

This past Friday night our Homeless Outreach team reached more streets than ever and saw a tremendous police presence on the street. Please be praying for our officers and their families during this busy time of year.

Below are the prayer requests of the people our team connected with. Each week they meet people where they are to provide food, water and prayer. Please join us in praying for the hurting and the hopeful in our city.

Isaiah 58: 6-9 (NIRV)

6 “Here is the way I want you to fast. “Set free those who are held by chains without any reason. Untie the ropes that hold people as slaves. Set free those who are crushed. Break every evil chain.

7 Share your food with hungry people. Provide homeless people with a place to stay. Give naked people clothes to wear. Provide for the needs of your own family.

8 Then the light of my blessing will shine on you like the rising sun. I will heal you quickly. I will march out ahead of you. And my glory will follow behind you and guard you. That is because I always do what is right.

9 You will call out to me for help. And I will answer you. You will cry out. And I will say, ‘Here I am.’

– Please pray for Justin and his girlfriend Anastasia who is pregnant. She believes she may have miscarried and is bleeding heavily. We prayed with them for the safety of their baby, the bond between them to strengthen with honor and kindness and we gave them information on the nearest free clinic. Please pray for them and their child and that we will be able to see them again.

– JoVaan and Samantha had made their bed behind a wall of new stands and were thankful we spotted them and to receive food, water and socks. Samantha asked us to pray for safety and JoVaan was eager to get a safe nights sleep.

– Please pray for Chief who has been coming up to us for several weeks asking questions about God, but now approaches us only to vent and express his anger with God. Please pray that his heart would open and that he feels God’s love and ability to heal hurts.

– Steve is in a wheel chair and asked that we pray for healing and that the pain in his legs would go away. He had us pray that he would come to be saved by the Lord and for a close relationship with Him.

– Juliana was such a blessing to talk to and pray with. She was recently attcked and nearly raped, but fought off her attacker with pepper spray. She lost most of her voice in doing so, but even in this she asked us to thank God that she is safe and wanted prayer for protection through the week. She has found housing beginning next Monday and prays for safety until then.

– Leonard and Jamie were waiting outside a restaurant for the security guard to leave so they could dumpster dive. Leonard was thankful for the socks we gave him and Jamie asked us to pray for “everything.” He softened when we prayed for peace and comfort and that he would come to know the goodness of God’s will for his life.

– Jake wears a crown and writes poetry. He asked us to pray for him and that he is thankful that he made the decision to follow Christ.

– Please pray for Omar who was thankful to see smiling faces and grateful for the snacks.

– Mr. James was missing a row of teeth and was very, very skinny, but he thanked God for the food we gave him and the food he had received from people earlier. He asked that we keep his mother in our prayers, too.

– Mike was thankful for the blanket we gave him and appreciated us being out. It’s the second time he’s seen us (this is the second week since adding new streets!) God, please help us to continue gaining trust and taking back ground in your name and reaching people for you!

– Rome, who we see every week, skate boarded over to us to say he loves seeing us on the boulevard each week and wants to come to church and find out what we’re all about! Please pray that we see him soon!

– “Dirty J” came to the table asking us to pray that he stays on God’s path for his life.

– Our long time friend Giovanni was grateful that he made it through another week living on the Boulevard and asked that we pray he has a good and safe week ahead.

– Alan asked us to pray for his sister Caylin who is struggling with a drug addiction. He is praying that she will move to Hollywood so he can keep an eye on her and help her to receive the care she needs.

– Charlie came to us looking for a pair of pants, but we didn’t have his size. Please pray that he finds something soon or that we receive more donations and can help meet the need this week and that he sees the will of God in his life.

– Shaun asked us to pray that he is able to continue focusing on the joy of the Lord in his heart while he is in the midst of struggle. He asked that we pray for continued safety and a way off the street.

– We love Spider – Man! He came by the table for a bit of candy and to hi five us!

– Jesus spoke with us in Spanish and was thankful for the food we gave him.

– Tony, from Virginia, was grateful for the food and water we gave him and asked that we pray for his general well being.

– Please help us pray for Maurice who asked for a closer relationship with the Lord and that he may come to know God more intimately.

– Marcus is struggling with his finances right now and asked that we pray for him to be able to get money out of his bank without an overwhelming amount of fees.

– Ashley asked us to pray for “everything” and that she remains safe on the streets.

– Dustiny was as excited as ever to see us on the boulevard! She is always smiling when we see her and so grateful for the food, socks and prayer. Please keep her in your prayers for health and a safe way off the street.

Thank you for praying with us Oasis family!

Homeless Outreach Prayer Requests 06.21.13

he Homeless Outreach Team took new ground for God this past Friday when they expanded their territory by adding three new streets to their route!

Thank you for your prayers and for sharing in the love and investment into your city. Below are the prayer requests of the people the team met this week. Please be praying with us and for the team as well.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

– Chris, who was pushing a cart and missing most of his teeth had difficulty speaking, but took his time to get the words out. He asked for a Bible (which we were excited to give him!) and asked that we pray with him for a stronger relationship with Christ. He also wanted prayer for his lungs and that the trucks that kick out so much smoke would stop making it difficult for him to breathe.

– Our friend Lexus, who we met over a year ago, is back on the street. He was staying at a shelter that PATH had helped him get into, but was recently displaced for coming back late. He prays for consistent shelter and that he can visit our church again soon.

– Donisha, a security guard we met while talking to Lexus, initially came over to see what we were doing and thanked us for caring for the homeless. She then asked us to be praying for a new job that she just applied for!

– Christina recently began attending Oasis and asked us to pray with her for her sons return home. God, please be with this woman and protect the decision she’s made to follow you and your will for her life!

– Please pray for Kelly who asked us to keep her in our hearts and that she soon finds a place to live. Also that her friends John & Hura find success with their music. She also shared with us about her work in the sex industry. Please pray that she can come to know freedom from that lifestyle.

– Splash was very thankful for the blanket and food we gave her. She had a huge smile and immediately covered herself with the blanket. Please pray that she will feel God’s love, warmth and comfort.

– Jonim passed by and was curious about what we were doing. Please keep him in your prayers that God continues to keep his heart engaged.

– Sandra, an elderly woman who went in and out of conversation didn’t want prayer, but seemed very happy just to have people to chat with.

– Please pray for Kelly’s friends John & Hura, who we met shortly after she had mentioned them to us! They’re in their twenties and living out of their car. They’d like prayer for jobs. Right now they sing and play guitar for those who pass by, hoping for money.

– Ivan asked us to pray for protection while he’s in the house where he currently stays. He feels spiritual attacks there while he sleeps.

– Robert was very thankful for the socks we gave him and the food he said he desperately needed. God, please help him to trust you and depend on your grace.

– Please pray for the 3 young men we met, Hasaan, Calvin and Andre, that they receive God’s protection and guidance during their difficult teenage years.

– Our friend Moses is still struggling with his landlord. Thank you God for housing, but please pray tha the moving from place to place will end and he may have a stable roof over his head.

– Please pray for George who continues to battle his alcohol addiction. He only asked for prayer over his father, who is recovering from a heart attack and for his mother who cares for him,

– Good ole Pat, who watches over Vine for us was happy as ever and grateful that we’ve added streets to our route! Thank you for his heart, Jesus!

– We saw our dear friend Jon and prayed with him for his new job, restoration of family relationships and the well being of his children.

– Please pray for Jabril who knows of Jesus, but doesn’t understand His love. May he come to know the peace, hope and joy found in Him.

– Please pray for another gentleman named George who was too scared to talk to us because he felt threatened by the store owner of the location we were standing in front of. God, please bring your patience and grace to Hollywood Boulevard and those who both live on and make a living off of this street.

– Thomas was greatful for the resource bag we gave him and asked that we just pray for him “in general.”

– Stephanie, who’s missing a hand and a leg, wanted prayer that she finds a job in a new field and that she can go back to Florida to visit her family. Also, for her cat Rocky’s well being.

– Another man named Calvin asked for us to pray that the electric company will turn his power back on.

– Daniel asked for prayer, but did not elaborate.

– Wolf was thankful for the resource bag and thanked us for being out.

– Steve asked that we pray for a new job for him. He was grateful to see us out on the boulevard and said he prays every night.

– Mike, the first man we met on one of our new streets, did not accept a resource bag, but was grateful to see people out helping. He pointed out a place where he knew someone else could use the food and socks. Please pray that he is continually blessed and that his heart stays so generous!

– Ava and Blaze were having an argument and asked only for socks. They eventually accepted the resource bags and calmed down a bit when they realized we wanted to bless them. Av asked for prayer that Blaze’s temper would subside. God, please work in their hearts and allow honor to prevail.

– William was carrying a large duffle of clothes that he intended to give away to other homeless people. He believes he is surrounded by God’s angels and was thankful for a miraculous healing he had experienced after being hit over the head and watching the massive wound heal over night. He was thankful for the resource bag so that he could bless other people with its contents.

– Our old friend Robert was throwing a tantrum in the middle of the street. When we walked by and said hello with his full name, he stopped in his tracks and just smiled as we walked by!

– Darnell recognized us and seemed cheerful as we walked past. He was grateful for the hello and for our team who had prayed for him earlier.

– Dwight was sleeping under the bright lights of a theater and was thankful that we stopped to give him a blanket and bag of food.

Thank you for loving this city and it’s people!

This week we welcomed 3 new members to the Outreach team to the family! We’re excited to see all that God does in their lives and through them during the next 6 months while they serve our city and its people. This week was also an open outreach – for those who may not be ready for the 6 month commitment, we welcome anyone who’d like to see what we’re all about every first Friday of the month! Join us April 5th if you’d like to be a part of helping people in need and being the hands and feet – we’d love to have you!

Thank you for following our little team and all the big things God is doing on the streets!

Please join us in praying for the people we met and let us know if there is anything you also need pray for.
